Aqui, até posso estar condicionado pela excelente key-note do Pro. O "open day" foi fraquinho..... se calhar escolhi mal o workshop mas a verdade é que a avaliação para a qualidade do eLEarning deixou muito a desejar. &lt;br /&gt;O&amp;nbsp;dia inicia hoje começa melhor... apesar das dificuldades em chegar devido a imprevitos previsíveis (daaahh), é um luxo entrar num auditório para ouvir falar o Prof. Dr. Roberto Carneiro sobre a sua visão do ensino e em particular do eLearning...&amp;nbsp; You’ve analyzed your content and audience, and you have a clear understanding of what learners need to be able to do by the end of the lesson.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;But how do you avoid designing a lesson that’s little more than a basic info dump? &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;How do you truly engage learning?&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;A&amp;nbsp;handful of instructional design models offer formulas for assembling training in a way that captures learners’ attention, conveys content, and provides learners with an opportunity to practice and receive feedback on new skills. One of the more popular models is Robert Gagne’s nine events of instruction.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;Here are the events:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;1.Gain attention - Spark learners’ interest and curiosity to motivate learning&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;2.Inform learners of objectives - State training objectives or goals to communicate expectations&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;3.Stimulate recall - Include questions or an activity to engage existing knowledge to which learners can relate new content&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;4.Present content - Present the new content learners must learn, preferably with a variety of media&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;5.Provide learning guidance - Elaborate on presented content by telling stories, explaining examples and non-examples, offering analogies, etc.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;6.Elicit performance (practice) - Prompt learners to practice using newly learned skills and knowledge&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;7.Provide feedback - Provide immediate and specific feedback to learners while they practice, to help shape their behavior to improve performance&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;8.Assess performance - Test learners on newly learned skills and knowledge to confirm that they’ve met the originally stated training objectives or goals&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;9.Enhance retention and transfer to the job - Provide support to ensure learners apply newly learned knowledge and skills on the job (e.g., post-training follow-up plans, job aids, etc.)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;Although you may encounter situations when it’s not practical to include all of these steps in training, and sometimes you might apply these steps in a different order, this formula provides the basic structure you need to begin designing training that goes beyond basic communication.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;Let’s look at an example of how this formula can be applied to a short eLearning lesson. This lesson is part of a larger eLearning course designed to teach experienced support staff in a small lending firm how to conduct quality control checks on mortgage applications. The purpose of this particular lesson is to teach learners how to identify errors.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;-1- Gain attention &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;Prompt learners to guess the percent of mortgage applications that have errors (could set up as a multiple choice or free response question). After learners attempt to guess, reveal the alarming statistic. Then briefly explain to learners that they can dramatically decrease that number, and outline some of the positive impacts of catching errors.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;-2- Inform learners of objectives &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;State: After completing this lesson, you will be able to identify errors on Application 1487B. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;Note that this is not the standard three-part objective (behavior, criterion, condition) that we should write when outlining the course. Although opinions on this vary, many believe that it is not necessary to present the entire objective to learners and that a simple purpose statement is sufficient.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;-3- Stimulate recall &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;Prompt learners to identify the types of application errors they’ve heard about (could set up as a multiple response question). Ask learners to recall the consequences of those errors (could set up as a free response or matching question).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;-4 &amp;amp; 5- Present content and provide learning guidance &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;Guide learners through the application, and explain how each section should be completed. Provide multiple examples of correct entries and common mistakes. When appropriate, ask questions to prompt learners to anticipate these examples based on their experience.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;-6 &amp;amp; 7- Elicit performance (practice) and provide feedback &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;Present practice exercises in which learners identify errors (or the lack thereof) on sample applications. Provide immediate feedback to learners about the correctness of their responses, and provide hints as needed.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;Practice exercises can be peppered throughout the presentation of content and learning guidance to break up the sections of the application. A final practice exercise could be handled as a game where the learner receives points for correct responses and is challenged to earn a certain number of points.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;-8- Assess performance &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;Include a formal assessment at the end where the learner audits a few applications with varying types of errors. Provide learners with feedback after submitting the assessment and offer remediation as needed.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;-9- Enhance retention and transfer to the job &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;Point learners to a job aid they can use on the job, and tell them where they can go with questions. Ensure that learners begin auditing applications shortly after they complete the training. If possible, assign learners to coaches who can check their early work and provide feedback.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;In order to maximize training’s success, you must complement a model like this with instructional tactics that align with adult learning principles. presencial. Exige a adopção de práticas, métodos e estratégias diferentes e requer competências que envolvam os formandos no desenvolvimento dos seus próprios processos de aprendizagem.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A primeira mudança refere-se à inexistência de exposições por parte do formador/tutor. A formação online assenta num espaço onde domina a escrita. Além do texto escrito, como substituição da exposição oral, a formação online fundamenta-se na interacção escrita entre formandos e tutores e entre formandos. Esta característica coloca ao tutor algumas exigências específicas: grande precisão na linguagem a usar, instruções claras e completas, um “tom” emocional afável.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Numa segunda fase, importa salientar que, na ausência de uma presença física como numa classe presencial, é determinante a construção de um comunidade virtual, onde a personalidade de cada formando possa emergir e os diferentes estilos se possam compatibilizar. Os formandos introvertidos têm mais facilidade em se adaptarem ao ambiente virtual e à ausência de oralidade. Os extrovertidos, por seu turno, têm maior necessidade de sentir a presença dos outros, incluindo a do tutor. A construção de espaços de interacção informal entre todos é uma forma de propiciar encontros “escritos” onde se poderão desenvolver laços de amizade, de respeito e de troca de experiências para além dos assuntos a abordar na disciplina. A formação de uma comunidade deste tipo dá ao formando segurança, ao mesmo tempo que dilui sentimentos de isolamento, de angústia e de abandono.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A existência de uma comunidade virtual é particularmente importante para a criação de um clima seguro para a adopção de regras comuns e para a construção conjunta de saberes, numa vertente de aprendizagem colaborativa. You’re right—a novice in a particular content area.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;em&gt;Compared to an expert, a novice will have a limited network of mental structures or schemas related to the subject, a reduced ability to make relevant perceptual discriminations, fewer paths for recalling information and inaccurate or fuzzy mental models resulting in less competent problem solving.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;em&gt;When designing for novices, we need to accommodate their mental structures in order to bring them to a level of competency as gracefully as possible. Here are some design tips for creating online courses for novices.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;em&gt;Five Strategies for Novice Course Design:&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Focus on Actions&lt;/strong&gt;. When designing for beginners, avoid overwhelming them. How can you whittle down all the information? Focus on the essential skills they require in the workplace and the knowledge that supports these skills. Remove anything that does not support the skills you want to teach.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Motivate&lt;/strong&gt;. Some people dread learning something new—they may find it overwhelming, they may be biased against the subject or perhaps they’re not thrilled with online learning. We all know that motivation improves learning, so make your next course exciting.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Let learners know from the start how the training will benefit them&lt;/strong&gt;. Maybe it will make work easier or faster or maybe it will make them safer. Perhaps they’ll be able to leap over a building in a single jump. Whatever it is, make the course beneficial to their lives. And when possible, try to keep things engaging, interactive and on the lighter side.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Organize, organize&lt;/strong&gt;. The key to efficient encoding in long-term memory and fast retrieval of information is a well-organized network of knowledge. Beginners don’t have an orderly and organized framework in which to fit their new knowledge and skills. You can help this situation by providing a visual of a simple framework showing how the course’s information fits together. Most important, provide novice learners with content that’s logically organized for how they will use the information.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Relate Content to Something Known&lt;/strong&gt;. If you’re writing for novices, they may have very little familiarity with the content of the course you’re designing. When a person has no frame of reference, it’s difficult to learn something new. To ease the transition into a new universe, relate the new content to something learners already know.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;em&gt;You can do this explicitly by directly referencing the known, as in, “You already know how to enter time into a timesheet by hand, this new automated system is based on the same concept.” Or use an analogy to assist understanding. For example, “You know the frustration of opening a file drawer to find that some folders are missing and you don’t know where they are. Patients in the early stage of dementia experience something similar with their own memory loss.”&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;em&gt;Use A Spiral Approach: Throughout the course, try to spiral around and touch on previously taught content, particularly when learners are practicing. If you can unobtrusively refer to information in earlier topics or include lower-level skills when practicing higher-level problem solving, you increase the opportunities for learners to build a Sete anos após o «crash» do NASDAQ, ainda lambendo as feridas inseguras do futuro que afinal não era bem o que esperámos, vi-me obrigado a pôr «a mão na consciência» e, quiçá, fazer a contabilidade (...)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;blockquote&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/blockquote&gt;Então vamos lá a umas contas rápidas e sobre o joelho: que vejo quando olho em minha volta? Vejo coisas como o Linux, o movimento Open Source, o SourceForge, o Wikipedia, o OAI (Open Arquive Initiative), o MySpace, o Second Life, o Google, o YouTube, o GMail, o Hi5, o peer-to-peer e, claro, a blogosfera. E ainda outras «ferramentas» - vamos chamar-lhes assim por agora - algumas paleolíticas, outras recentes, todas apontando na direcção de um intraduzível «empowerment» das pessoas. Não é que seja isso realmente que importa mas... afinal tinhamos razão? Tivemos quando acreditámos que além dos negócios óbvios da publicidade, do hardware e das telecomunicações, haveriam modelos sustentados de uma economia nova, baseada mais na generosidade do que na avareza? Tivemos quando acreditámos que as pessoas estariam desejosas de partilhar conhecimento e alcançar estatutos de comunicadores globais?&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;blockquote&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/blockquote&gt;Aparentemente sim. Só a avareza capitalista falhou redondamente por se ter lançado vorazmente a uma árvore de frutos verdes e amargos. O resto era uma questão de tempo: de tempo de desenvolvimento das tecnologias e de disseminação da largura de banda. Tempo de habituação a novos paradigmas e de maturação daqueles que, num dia já remoto, John Perry Barlow chamou de «nativos» do Ciberespaço. Os filhos da minha geração já não conseguem conceber um mundo sem redes. É tão absurdo como imaginar televisores a preto e branco e telefones com um disco que se gira para marcar números. (...)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;blockquote&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/blockquote&gt;Estou, pois, a confessar um inebriante e renovado optimismo. Uma cultura cuja grande essência é a Internet? &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;Ao considerar a Internet como essência própria de uma cultura, a cibercultura, devemos começar pela própria definição de cultura em si.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Deste modo, a cultura pode ser definida, na sua concepção estrutural definida por Thompson (in Slevin, 2000), como um conjunto de formas simbólicas que se relacionam directamente com contextos e processos historicamente específicos e socialmente estruturados dentro dos quais e por meio dos quais, essas formas simbólicas são produzidas, transmitidas e recebidas.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Estes contextos e processos, definidos por Thompson, assentam tradicionalmente nas dimensões fundamentais da vida humana, o espaço e o tempo. Castells (1996) considera que estes se encontram num processo de reestruturação radical, promovido pelos novos suportes de comunicação:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;"As localidades são despojadas do seu sentido cultural, histórico e geográfico e reintegram-se em redes funcionais ou em conjuntos de imagens, ocasionando um espaço de fluxos que substitui o espaço de lugares. O tempo é apagado no novo sistema de comunicação já que passado, presente e futuro podem ser programados para interagir entre si, na mesma mensagem. O espaço de fluxos e o tempo atemporal são as bases fundadoras de uma nova cultura, que transcende e inclui a diversidade dos sistemas de representação historicamente transmitidos: a cultura da virtualidade real, onde o faz-de-conta se vai tornando realidade."&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Também os processos de produção, transmissão e recepção de formas simbólicas se reordenaram com a implementação cada vez mais abrangente da Internet. Começou a desenvolver a sua actividade nos anos 50 na Fundação Hermods, na altura a maior organização de educação a distância na Europa. Para além da concepção e desenvolvimento de inúmeros cursos, na Hermods desempenhou funções de Director Educacional (1956) e mais tarde de Director Geral (1966).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;Após a Fundação Hermods ter sido assimilada pelo Estado Sueco (1975), Holmberg abandonou o projecto tendo sido nomeado Director da FernUniversitaet (1976), uma Universidade especialmente vocacionada para a Educação a Distância.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;Foi nesta instituição que desenvolveu grande parte da sua investigação tendo sido autor de inúmeros artigos, monografias e publicando diversos livros sobre a temática da Educação a Distância.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;Da sua obra podem-se destacar "Theory and Practice of Distance Education" (1990 - segunda edição), "Growth and Structure of Distance Education" (1986), e "Mediated Communication as a Component of Distance Education" (1989).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/38763048-8724031948768557758?l=ultimatelearning.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://ultimatelearning.blogspot.com/feeds/8724031948768557758/comments/default' title='Enviar comentários'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=38763048&amp;postID=8724031948768557758&amp;isPopup=true' title='0 Comentários'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/38763048/posts/default/8724031948768557758'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/38763048/posts/default/8724031948768557758'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://ultimatelearning.blogspot.com/2007/02/borje-holmberg.html' title='Borje Holmberg'/><author><name>jorge</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/06004362502492604625</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media='http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/' url='http://bp1.blogger.com/_yFYrRhDAEck/RcTN6-zw2eI/AAAAAAAAAAY/htWxoJjZbD4/s72-c/holmberg.jpg' height='72' width='72'/><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38763048.post-2726700463820748986</id><published>2007-02-03T15:50:00.000Z</published><updated>2007-02-03T16:51:18.531Z</updated><title type='text'>Educação a Distância</title><content type='html'>&lt;p align="justify"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;Antes de mais, e na sequência da proposta de trabalho da disciplina de MED importa definir quais os principais conceitos base associados à Educação a Distância.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Como base desta reflexão encontra-se o livro de Desmond Keegan (1996) &lt;em&gt;Foundations of Distance Education&lt;/em&gt;, mais concretamente o seu Capítulo 3 – &lt;em&gt;Definition of Distance Education&lt;/em&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ao longo dos tempos foram sendo desenvolvidos diferentes sistemas de ensino/aprendizagem a distância, cada qual com as suas características e terminologias próprias (ensino por correspondência, estudo em casa, estudo independente, estudo externo, ensino a distância, aprendizagem a distância).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Keegan procura, na sua obra, fazer convergir os conceitos associados a cada um desses sistemas, e definir uma base terminológica e conceptual para a designação de Educação a Distância. Considera ainda as contribuições e definições de diversos autores que, no seu estudo e investigação, contribuiram para o desenvolvimento deste conceito ao longo do tempo.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Neste particular, destaco a definição de Holmberg (1977):&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;“The term ‘distance education’ covers the various forms of study at all levels which are not under the continuous, immediate supervision of tutors present with their students in lecture rooms or on the same premises, but which, nevertheless, benefit from the planning, guidance and tuition of a tutorial organisation.”&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Com base nesta definição podemos já começar a delimitar alguns conceitos base associados à Educação a Distância: a separação física entre o tutor e o aluno e a existência de materiais e modelos pedagógicos especificamente planeados e estruturados para este regime educacional.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Refinando estes conceitos com experiências e práticas posteriores podemos considerar que a separação física entre tutor e aluno não será uma verdade universal, existindo contextos específicos em que será importante (e às vezes fundamental) incluir uma vertente presencial nestes regimes educacionais. Da mesma forma, deverá existir uma organização educacional de suporte aos processos de planeamento e concepção de materiais e modelos pedagógicos (estabelecimento de regras, normas e conceitos-chave de desenvolvimento).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Para além destas premissas é necessário destacar outros pontos de análise importantes. Um destes pontos diz respeito à importância dos meios tecnológicos nos processos de educação a distância, “substituindo” a figura do tutor presencial como meio de acesso à informação. Por outro lado, o sistemático desenvolvimento dos meios tecnológicos permite hoje em dia que, em tempo real, tutores e alunos possam comunicar entre si, cada um dos quais com funções específicas enquanto sendo, simultaneamente, receptores e difusores; verifica-se assim uma comunicação multidireccional indispensável ao desenvolvimento dos processos de aprendizagem. Finalmente, nos sistemas de educação a distância existe a possibilidade de separar o aprendente enquanto indivíduo das comunidades de aprendizagem típicas do ensino tradicional (as turmas). A educação a distância tanto poderá ser “servida” a um estudante &lt;em&gt;per si&lt;/em&gt;, enquanto elemento individual, como a uma “comunidade” de estudantes, tudo dependendo da forma como são estruturados e planeados os materiais e modelos pedagógicos e de desenvolvimento da aprendizagem.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Concluindo, podem-se sistematizar os seguintes conceitos como base para a exitência de uma efectiva Educação a Distância:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;- Maioritariamente, tutores e alunos encontram-se separados fisicamente, podendo existir regimes onde os encontros presenciais possam beneficiar os processos de aprendizagem (p.ex. &lt;em&gt;blended-learning&lt;/em&gt;, ou mesmo sistemas que combinem este último com elementos de prática simulada específicos do contexto de cada aprendente);&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;- Existência de uma organização educacional que influencie a definição, planeamento, estruturação e desenvolvimento de materiais, modelos e práticas pedagógicas (p.ex. a Universidade Aberta);&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;- Existência de um suporte tecnológico, físico ou digital, que dissolva a distância entre tutores e alunos e que possa servir como meio de desenvolvimento/suporte do processo educacional;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;- Existência de comunicação multidireccional, onde, para além de receptores, os alunos possam também desempenhar um papel de emissores, contribuindo activamente para o desenvolvimento do seu processo de aprendizagem (p.ex. possibilidade de apresentar dúvidas aos tutores ou dar &lt;em&gt;feedback&lt;/em&gt; das metodologias utilizadas).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;- A possibilidade dos processos de aprendizagem poderem ser desenvolvidos por um estudante, enquanto indivíduo, ou por uma comunidade de aprendizagem com recurso a metodologias colaborativas e/ou cooperativas.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Neste último ponto em particular a minha conclusão não vai de encontro ao pressuposto de Keegan. Este, considera que na Educação a Distância, as comunidades de aprendizagem são praticamente inexistentes – &lt;em&gt;“(...) the quasi-permanent absence os the learning group through-out the lenght of the learning process(...)”&lt;/em&gt;.
